当時、多くのミュージシャンに影響をあたえた彼のテクニックや曲へのアプローチ
、しだいにドラッグと酒におぼれ、友人達がひとりひとり彼のもとを去っていった。 あらゆる奇行についても、日本人である私にはある種の天才や有名人に付いて回るものぐらいにしか、考えていなかった。 彼がバスケットコートのベンチで寝起きし、浮浪者同然の生活を送っていることを知ったのは彼が亡くなってから出版された「ジャコパストリアスの肖像」ビルミルコウスキー著を読んだ時に知った。
